Careers at Urban Landscapes – Dave’s Journey So Far

We recently caught up with one of our Landscapers, Dave, and asked him how he was finding his role here at Urban Landscapes. Here is what he had to say!

What experience did you have prior to joining?

I have been landscaping for 23 years. I previously owned my own landscaping business, so I have gained lots of experience in the landscaping industry.

This has enabled me to build up a lot of knowledge which I am able to pass onto other members of the Urban team.

What made you want to apply to Urban Landscapes?

Urban Landscapes has always looked after their staff, so this brought me to apply for the job. I also think that the variety of work is great, with projects that test your skills with pleasing results!

What training have you done since joining the team?

I have had the opportunity to take part in several training sessions in different types of wall cladding techniques. One of the sessions was focused on Designclad, which is the very intricate process of fitting thin profile porcelain to different wall structures.

What support has been given to help you progress in your role?

I have received a lot of support from different team members with varying knowledge, including team leaders and office staff with vast experience, so you never feel alone.

Is the role what you thought it would be?

The role is very varied with different challenges every day. Even though I’ve been in the industry a long time, there is still lots to learn. Every day is a school day as they say!

How do you see your role progressing in the next 2 years?

In the next two years I hope to work on more large contracts, and with the knowledge I have gained over the years, that I will be overseeing these projects. With a good team supporting me this would be great.

We have great team spirit at Urban Landscapes and everyone is willing to help each other out to complete the work. Teamwork makes the dream work!
